John Smithman started his career as a pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces where he rose to the rank of major.  In the 70's, he built a regional airline in Ontario.  John has owned manufacture, service and retail companies.  In the 80s and early 90s he directed a major university service department of over 100 people.

After 17 years at The University of British Columbia where he developed and practised Progressive Applied Learning™ techniques, John Smithman founded Champions in the Workplace Training & Development Inc. to bring these benefits to others.

He has served on planning committees with local and national organizations. John is regularly called on to give presentations on time management and professional development.

In his career, he has acted as mentor, advisor, teacher, counsellor, and helper to some of Canada's finest leaders. He is a published author, entrepreneur, and trusted advisor.
